首届澳大利亚文学翻译论坛举行

首届澳大利亚文学翻译论坛于10月15日在北京外国语大学举行。论坛期间对李尧从事文学翻译38周年来在澳大利亚文学翻译领域所作出的卓越贡献进行了表彰。

澳大利亚驻华大使安思捷女士向学者兼翻译家李尧表示祝贺，并赞扬他对澳大利亚文学翻译所作出的重要贡献。安思捷说：“李尧在翻译澳大利亚文学方面作出了卓越贡献。得益于李尧的努力付出，许多深受人们喜爱的澳大利亚作家的作品可以走进中国的课堂、图书馆和千家万户。”

近40年来，李尧翻译或与人合译了数十部澳大利亚作家的文学作品，这些作家包括：彼得·凯里、安妮塔·海斯、考琳·麦卡洛、托马斯·肯尼里和亚历克西斯·赖特等。其早期翻译作品包括与北京外国语大学教授胡文仲合作翻译的澳大利亚作家、诺贝尔文学奖获得者帕特里克·怀特的长篇小说《人树》。此后，他翻译了30余部澳大利亚文学、历史和回忆录作品，其中包括多部澳大利亚文学经典名作以及体现澳大利亚当代社会多样性和澳洲土著的书籍。

据悉，目前中国至少有33个澳大利亚研中心，澳大利亚文学研究深受学者和学生们的青睐。

English abstract:  The first Australian Literature Translation Forum took place at the Beijing Foreign Studies University on October 15. An award ceremony was held during the forum in honor of Chinese translator Li Yao. Li received a special award from the Australian government for his contribution to the translation of Australian literary works into Chinese. The forum also held a ceremony for the 38th anniversary of Li 's translation career. The Australian Ambassador to China, Jan Adam, attended the event and congratulated Li. Over the past 40 years, Li translated 30 books, either independently or collaboratively, by Australian writers such as Peter Carey and Colleen McCullough. One of his earliest translation works, jointly completed with another translator Hu Wenzhong, is the famous novel The Tree of Man by Australian novelist Patrick White, the 1973 Nobel Prize-winner.
